Every idea is a good idea at first, isn’t it? What doesn’t sound great about taking an old 1960s era Volkswagen-powered dune buggy to the beach? That sounds like an amazing time to us, and it sounded good to Fred from Dirt Every Day. So he located the dune buggy near Bend, Oregon, and managed to rope his friend Brian into helping him get the little fiberglass tub ready for a road trip to a beach a few hundred miles away. Sounds like a great way to spend summer in the Pacific Northwest, but at some point the rose-colored glasses have to come off and reality must be seen: this is a 38-horsepower project that hasn’t been running in who-knows-how-long, that is expected to make the cruise from Bend to the waterfront with no problems. In Oregon. There are hills bigger than curbs along the way, and we suspect that at all 38 of those horses are probably ready for the glue factory any day now. Yet Fred will not be deterred, and Brian doesn’t seem to mind the trouble. Will they make it, or will they wind up pushing this sparkly green buggy the whole way there?
An episode that had so much promise but so little reward!
Thats a sad little dune buggy!
Now youtube channel middle aged guys pushing cars. Seriously either fix this thing or don’t even put an episode on. I tune in like an idiot every time hoping it will be better but the host and show keeps getting worse. I saw dune buggy episode thought yah might be cool maybe fix a vw engine on the road, I bet the damn thing never had oil in it to begin with. Motor trend get rid of this guy as host please he is killing this show with horrible ideas. I cringe every time his mug shows up I know nothing decently automotive will happen.
