There’s lots of reasons why race tracks do not have top end spectator bridges or fixed, overhanging camera stands at the finish line anymore like they used to. This video illustrates just about all of them at one time. An out of control Camaro climbs the barrier wall on the side of the Salem Al-Sabah quarter mile strip in Kuwait City, Kuwait. It them becomes airborne and works as a wrecking ball, smashing into what appears to be a camera stand with a couple dudes on it, and bringing it down, hard.
One of the guys springs up but we’re not sure what happened to the other one. Photograhpers risk their asses on the top end with regularity. Flying parts, wayward parachutes, and wrecking cars can all hurt you while on terra firma, but at least on the ground, ther’s a chance to run away. Up there on the bridge you’re a sitting duck, as these poor guys discovered.
