One time when we were interviewing EJ Potter, he told us about the bad rap motorcycles had at the drags during the 1960s about the time he came out with his V8 “Widowmaker” motorcycle. He said, “Motorcycles were seen as annoying things that made bad noises and flipped over backwards.” The guy in this video wishes he had just flipped over backwards.
We’re going to assume that the rider was very new to drag racing on this run, like so new he had never cracked the throttle on a drag strip before. The light turns green, he feeds it full throttle and the tire spins. What separates the good riders from the really good riders on the strip is pedaling the bike to get hooked up and rolling when something like this happens.
This guy does neither and is pretty lucky he didn’t break his neck. You’ll watch this one a few times like we did.

Among the many reasons I no longer ride. When things went wrong, I tended to hold on tighter, often twisting the throttle more. I would have ended up just like this guy.
If you don’t know how to ride it, you probably shouldn’t race it.

I honestly don’t know how anyone could ride that badly.
I have seen worse- I saw two motorcycles try to drag race on a wet dragstrip. One of them laid it down immediately after hitting the throttle- the other one made it about 20 feet before the bike got sideways and launched the rider about 10 feet into the air. Both riders got up and walked their bikes off the strip. FREAKING FUNNY in person.
