A Polaris RZR that acts like it’s on nitrous, a Cummins-swapped Dodge Ramcharger, four-seat dune runners with their wheels in the air, Yamaha Banshees that sound like they are tuned to within an inch of their lives, mud drag trucks, Trophy trucks, a Chrysler Town and Country minivan and a freaking Lincoln Town car…if this isn’t the most all-inclusive drag race of any type we’ve ever seen, then it’s damn close. The Kleinschmidt Nationals is a relatively new event held in Michigan, but from what we see we think they’ve got a great path to success and longevity. In addition to the dirt drags there’s mud pits, a longest jump competition, and all sorts of off-road fun. We just might have to see this for ourselves when they hold it this year, but for now, check out the footage from last year. You tell us: is there any interest in this sort of thing?
I wonder what the hot ticket would be for something mostly production based would be there – a pickup with a nasty V8, or something like a WRX or EVO with a massive amount of boost?
Ground looks hard enough on that strip to take the edge away from an AWD car. I’d go for something like a sand drag-prepared truck.
