Over the years here at BangShift we have showed you some awesome videos of nordic hot rodders having fun. Guys in Sweden, Norway, and other countries in that neck of the planet know how to get down and have fun. This video is yet more proof of that fact and we were tipped off to it by our Norwegian man on the scene Arild. In this video, which was shot at an event called the “Hot Rod Rumble” in Sweden, you’ll get four minutes of in-cab footage featuring a dude absolutely driving the wheels off of a hot rodded 1957 Chevy truck on a winding dirt course. This isn’t a deal with guys lapping an oval horse racing course, this is more like a rally type loose gravel/dirt situation and the man driving this worked up ’57 is more than up to the task of going fast on the dirt. Did we mention that it looks like this truck is a still a stick shift on the tree?
As you’ll hear, the truck sounds great. We’re totally lacking in specifics but if we had to guess, it has a pissed off small block, a Mustang II front suspension, or something like it, and it sits awesome. Our guess on the suspension comes from the fact that the truck clearly has a quicker steering ratio than stock. That’s not a demerit by any means, but when you watch the guy steer this thing and get it all sideways, you’ll note that he isn’t sawing the wheel crazily back and forth as he would be if the original steering gear was in it. Anyone else have any ideas?
We want in on this action. Someone needs to get something like this started in the USA. The drags are fun, burnout contests are largely lame here, and some sideways awesome dirt action would be an amazing addition to any car show. Would people participate in this type of deal here? It would take a few brave souls to get it going but we can see something like this as being a winner. No one with a decent paint job would want in, but that doesn’t really hurt our feelings. After watching this video we KNOW you’ll want to have some fun like this!
