When we heard about the Nostalgia Pro Stock Shootout that was scheduled to go down at Thompson, Ohio’s, Thompson Raceway on July 3rd, we were sad that we couldn’t make it. After all, it was going to be the best gathering of period correct, four-speed, early Pro Stock cars ever. Granted this was supposed to be a “one time only” deal celebrating Thompson’s history as one of the hot beds of early Pro Stock action.
As we dreamed, this event lived up to the billing. The drivers all did wild burnouts, wheels-up dry hops, and bang-shifted their four-speeds like maniacs. This video really kicks some ass.
Yes, this was/is supposed to be a one time deal, but we’re hoping that this event will light the fuse on what could be the next great nostalgia drag racing explosion, nostalgia Pro Stock. The front engine fuelers came onto the scene and have cemented themselves in as a permanent fixture on the nostalgia circuit, the nostalgia Funny Cars are doing the same thing, and these cars could come in next.
