Classic YouTube: Going Down Cable Hill At Gray Rock In A Beat-Up Caravan

Starting in 1990, Chrysler sold the Dodge Caravan with all-wheel-drive. The system, which was front-wheel-drive biased, was meant to aid drivers in inclement weather and snow. It wasn’t meant for any kind of off-roading that took place outside of a well-groomed gravel road, and we’re pretty sure that the engineers who designed the system would stroke out if they saw any Caravan about to do what this one is going to attempt: a downhill run of Cable Hill at Gray Rock ORV Park in Alabama. We don’t know if this van is AWD or not, but by the time the video finishes, you’ll understand exactly what we mean when we say that wouldn’t matter. The decent from top to bottom is a bouncing, sheetmetal-crunching affair that makes our lower backs twinge in sympathy to the driver and passenger that elected to take the quick way down the hill.

Some off-roaders approach the obstacle with precision and caution. These guys made a Caravan bounce down a hill like a Plinko chip in The Price Is Right. Twenty bucks says that the seats were the thick, heavy-foam fabric-covered units, and equal money says that they didn’t do jack squat to combat the bashing that had to have happened. I’ve heard from rockbouncers and even MadRam11 that the videos will never do the hills that rockbouncers race up and down on justice, so just imagine being in the front seat of a Caravan, getting ready to make that plunge into infamy. What goes through your head, besides the name of the local chiropractor?
