The late 1950’s were a very exciting time in the worlds of hot rodding and drag racing. The veritable small block Chevy was really gaining traction in the gearhead culture, companies like Scotty Fenn’s Chassis Research Inc. were building full on race chassis for public sale and speed parts companies were springing up all over the place. These videos also show how pervasive the hot rodding craze was.
This footage was shot in Lewiston, Montana, not exactly the center of the rodding world, yet there are full boogie dragsters, new Corvettes, and killer rods duking it out on what had to be an old air base runway.
If we had a time machine, we’d take ourselves here!
