Dave Wallace Jr., most recently the former Editor at Hot Rod Deluxe and one of drag racing’s most important historians, had the opportunity of a lifetime this weekend at the California Hot Rod Reunion when he climbed behind the wheel of the Doss, Clayton, and King Top Fuel Dragster. Since 1963 Dave Wallace as been watching this car run, but never had the chance to get behind the wheel and feel the power of nitro. That changed this weekend as he strapped in during a good cackle session. In Dave’s email to us he wrote “I never knew one could have so much fun in a vehicle sitting still!”

Yep, it sat right there in one place, rocking back and forth with the power of the nitro burning early Hemi. And if Dave’s head bobs and hand gestures are any indication, all of us that have not done this yet should.
