Our boy Ronnie Mankins sent us the link to this one yesterday and it’s bitchin. You hear all the stories about the racecars of the early 20th Century, but you can’t imagine what it must have been like to drive them without seeing this video. No steering geometry, no brakes, no seats, no belts. Oh, and did we mention that it’s chain drive and has a final drive ratio that is less than 2:1! This thing may bat have been able to rev, but with that gear it ran over 70 MPH!

This video is super bitchin because it shows NASCAR star Carl Edwards at the Henry Ford Museum driving this car around. His genuine excitement is awesome, and the details of the car are spectacular. As a true enthusiast of the automobile, I truly appreciate the bravery, intelligence, creativity, and stupidity that it took to come up with such a design and then race it. Oh, and the balls. Yeah, great big balls. As Henry Ford Engineer Glenn Miller states, “They didn’t know any better!”

Why does that excuse sound so much more romantic and cool that when you used that one on your mom as a kid. Hmmmm.

Click play to watch this great piece of automotive history.
