Normally when we talk about Australia and burnouts we’re talking about some lunatic frying the hides off the back of his blown street machine while busting out donuts and figure eights in a cloud his own smoke. That is certainly not the case in this video, which features an early 1970s Holden Monaro with a turbocharged engine absolutely annihilating the rear tires in a rolling high speed burnout for the books.
When Freiburger’s F-Bomb roamed the Earth (and there are rumblings that it will be doing so once again, and soon) he was notorious for wicking up the boost and letting a burner like this rip. We have seen long smokey burnouts like this done with adjustable line locks on the front brakes where the driver could slowly back the pressure off allowing the car to pick up speed and continue to roast the tires. In our estimation, this car is not equipped with any type of “cheater” device like that and instead just relies on a massive amount of wheel speed to shred the rubber.
Hard core drag race guys will scoff at this and let you know that having a car that can smoke the tires for what seems to be about an eighth of a mile is nothing to brag about, but frankly in our world it damn sure is! Having this type of power at your toe has to be riotous!

That should be Gup and his Holden, “Elvis”. He’s the guy responsible for bringing Powercruise to the States.
One word Impressive!
There may be nitrous involved, but if one listens carefully, the distinctive whistle of a turbo (or 2?) can be heard. Very, VERY cool!
that’s Gup. It’s not so much a “burnout” as it is a “powerskid”. Aussies do burnouts MUCH differently.
BangShift should really consider going to the Brainerd Powercruise event this year. It’s definitely the type of “Bangshift approved” stuff you guys like.
Power skids rule!!! Nice!!!!
Awesome! BRING BACK THE F-BOMB!
