Any Taub was competing at Atco Dragway recently in her rear engine sportsman dragster. From the looks of the dial in board, this is a very low 7-second dragster, so we can safely assume that the car runs about 200mph and that means we can also assume that by half track it is making about 150mph of that 200. All of this is important because you are going to see something anyone (even frequent drag race announcers) gets to see. What’s that? It is a rear engine dragster completely spinning around at extremely high speed and not flipping or hitting a damned thing. We’re talking nothing. Not a hair out of place and Amy seemed energized by the whole situation when the safety personnel stopped her to check on her condition! The reaction of the other driver, who walks up to the car is priceless. The guy is completely flummoxed by what he saw…and so are we!
It seems like the machine broke traction and the rear tried to pass the front, well ok, it did pass the front. In the car you can see Amy driving the wayward digger and even whacking the throttle and the right moment to bring the whole works back into line. This is truly an amazing piece of driving with a healthy sprinkle of good luck thrown in. That’s usually the two elements involved in any successful save. We’ve NEVER and we mean NEVER seen anything like this from the in-car perspective. We’re tipping our caps to Amy and like us, we bet you’ll watch the action from 1:27 on about 10-times in a row.
This…is….insane.

GREAT DRIVING JOB AMY ! Way to go. This girl is a star !
WOW! nice job saving that… seemed like it didnt shift into high gear, and when she wacked the throttle it just blew the tires away…
Best save ever. Even Big Daddy would be impressed.
WOW
just
WOW
I wonder if anyone has video of this from the stands or tower, WOW.
Whoa!
That was an amazing save….
Looks like it stuck in 1st gear and when she pedaled it and stuffed it again it went left. Amazing driving Amy!
Amazing save. It is also nice to see they make sure she was ok. Even though the car didn’t hit anything, she could still have gotten banged around inside the car.
Well…great run…but don’t pull the brake that hard next time (watch the tach absolutely sink before the spin)….thank God the chute set you back straight…. and nice job staying calm. Cheers!
OK, she lost control, got lucky, then the crew fiddle-farted around for 6 minutes while everyone in staging waited on this very UN-professional to cleat the track.
