This is some amazing footage. We’re riding along with Danny Thompson in his Mustang as he hauls the mail down the Bonneville Salt Flats. Things are going along really well until he crests 260mph. At that point, the Ford Mustang pretends that it is a P-51 Mustang and the landing really sucks.
You’ll know it is about time for take off when Thompson has to make one or two significant corrections to the steering wheel. Pay attention to the clouds in the sky, because you’ll see them rotate and then there is the eeriest sound you may ever hear from a race car…silence. That video claims that the car traveled 1,100ft (length-wise) in the air before crashing back to Earth.
After seeing this, you’ll believe it! Danny, and his iPhone, both walked away from this. Crazy stuff!
