Insane Video: New Zealand Jetsprint Boat Video With Wrecks And Some Absolutely Stunning In-Boat Footage

One of the wildest motorsports in the world is jetsprint boat racing. These tiny boats have two guys in them, engines that make nearly 1,000hp and they run around what is essentially an aquatic autocross course. They accelerate, turn, and move like nothing else on Earth. These are boats with freaking roll cages. Read that again…boats with roll cages. Why would a boat have a roll cage? You’ll see when you press play below.

While the couple of crashes highlighted in this video are cool for their violence and scariness, it is the on-boat footage that will stop you in your tracks and you’ll be pulling the video back over and over again to make sure your eyes are not lying to you. Remember as you watch that the tape  isn’t being sped up or doctored at all.

The most impossibly difficult thing to figure out in racing these boats has to be the course layout. It is damned confusing to watch these guys because they are constantly ripping lefts and rights through the interconnected course. There is definitely a “right way” but we have no idea what that is. Frankly, that makes watching the video a little more entertaining because you have no idea which what the guys in the boat are going next. Oh yeah, we said “guys” because there is a driver and navigator like in a rally car. Hey, we told you the course was confusing! They need a full time guy to give the directions!

Thanks to Todd Staege for the tip on this video, it is a great watch!

Roll cages on these boats CAN be useful! Jersey speed skiffs have cages to keep other skiffs from entering the cockpit.

No need to go to NewZealand for this. Like three or four tracks in the Pacific Northwest.
Hit up http://www.oregonjetsprints.com. It is awesome grass roots racing. Hell I sat in the pouring
rain watching it. Was worth the 8 hour drive to go check it out.
