Jason Line can be a hard guy to know. As someone who sees him in person more weekends a year than perhaps even his own kids I can tell you that the big man from Minnesota is funny, quick witted, and plays a cool hand when it comes to the performance of both himself and his race car. I have joked with Freiburger a ton that he and Jason are brothers both thousands of miles apart. They share so many personality traits it is hilarious, right down to the Olympic levels of ball busting that both men are capable of.
This being said, I (and most everyone else) like and respect the man for who he is and what he has accomplished. A stock eliminator world champion and a pro stock world champion he climbed a ladder that few do anymore into the world of professional NHRA drag racing. His career began in NASCAR racing with Joe Gibbs where he was plucked from obscurity at home and became one of the best dyno men in the world of professional stock car competition. That work translated directly to his then night job at KB racing
It all worked out in the end for Jason who is truly one of the hardest working guys at the track week in and week out. As KB has expanded their engine lease program he has his hands on a load of engines across the class. This is a neat video that shows how the guy came from basically nowhere to work his way up the ranks to the level of professional NHRA racer. It is a cool story of work, dedication, and talent. The kind of stuff we love to celebrate.
and he still owns and races a BUICK !!
