KaBOOM Video: The Spectacular End to a Cummins Powered Dodge Pulling Truck

If truck pulling has an equivalent to cars like Larry Larson’s six second street legal Nova and other of that ilk, it’s the street legal pulling classes. With advancements in diesel performance technology over the last decade or more, insane power levels can be had by John Q Public in his daily driver. Hell, most diesel trucks are leaving the factory these days with 800 lb/ft of torque!

Just like hot rodders with cars, these trucks are run hard on the ragged edge and they break, sometimes in spectacular fashion. Take this Cummins powered Dodge for example. It not only explodes, but it contines to explode, launching pieces of what we think are molten aluminum out of the exhaust stack like a freaking Roman candle! Dig the plumes of death smoke that continue to rise long after the engine has expired.

Oh, you want to know what broke? All of it.

What’s the best thing to do right after an engine exposion, while the smoke is still rising? Open the hood and put your face in there, that’s what. What did he think he was going to do? Find something under there that slipped off, put it back on and continue down the track?
