The 1970 season is seen by most to be the seminal year for the Trans-Am series. We found this kick ass video of American racing legend Dan Gurney’s press conference announcing that he’d be driving a 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda for duration of that season’s Trans-Am schedule. This is cool mostly for the nostalgic element.
When was the last time there was a driver or car important enough to pull a mass of press together to announce that they’d be pairing up? Event today’s NASCAR drivers, who trade teams like stick and ball athletes now, don’t normally get this much attention. We’re guessing that half the press corps on hand had sucked down a “pre-event” beverage or two, and the party after must have kicked some ass too.
