Picture your ultimate week of nothing but car geekery. What does it look like? I’m certain that many of you will immediately shout out “Drag Week!” without a hesitation and that’s quite understandable. Some of you might be touring the country, or would just be happy spending a week solid in the garage getting stuff done…Lord knows I would at this point. Maybe it’s getting out and getting immersed in the scene. For me, it’s been the week of SEMA, where I hop in feet-first into the deep end and don’t come back out until my pedometer sends me a text message, asking if I’d like to call an Uber or something like that.
It would be easy to take snipe shots at Tyler Hoover for the kind of week he recently had. That YouTube fame has it’s perks…visiting Jay Leno’s Big Dog Garage, getting a ride around in a Tucker, roadtripping a McLaren, and hanging around at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance sounds like an amazing time for anyone interested in cars. Leno’s shop is filled with a fantastic collection of machines spanning pretty much the history of the automobile. We might not seek out a McLaren actively, but we’d never shut down the chance to drive one around, and to go for a ride in a real-deal, no joke Tucker…that’s big. After all of that, Amelia Island seems like a star-studded car show…no offense, but it’s true, though for me personally it’s a great way to see the work a friend of mine has done recently. Hoover might spend most of his time buying and selling “The Cheapest (insert car here) In The Country” but this last week was a pretty solid good time and he’s willing to share that with you.
