If you think you are seeing a car that you have seen before on BangShift, you’re right. This Mustang from Australia has been featured here a couple of times but it was with a completely different drivetrain back then. Running low 8-s with an inline six on propane and then E85, this thing was a freaky little bugger. Well the owner has big plans for that inliner engine and wanted to keep the Mustang on the road so he’s swapped engines. That brings us to the point of this video.
The Ford is now powered by a 427ci Cleveland headed, Windsor based engine that uses a pair of turbochargers to make the boost. From the flywheel back it is the same car that it was before. Bolted to a hub dyno we see the machine make a succession of nine pulls, each one with more boost than the pull before it. Starting with a very tame 6 psi and ramping up through the 28 psi mark we get a look at the curve and the power numbers each time the car sends its fury through the dyno.
We’re happy to hear that the seemingly unstoppable inline six will be placed in another car, something we are guessing that’s way lighter and will allow it to run in the 7-second zone and we’re glad that this orange, right hand drive monster is back making the kind of noises we love and the kind of power we are envious of!
