Marty and Moog of Australia’s Mighty Car Mods are currently in the middle of a build-off challenge: find a turbocharged car that they haven’t owned with a manual trans for $3000 and proceed to prepare it for fan-sourced challenges. Marty’s choice is in the form of a Mitsubishi Lancer…the kind we saw in the States as the Mirage. It’s so riced that the folks from Webster’s Dictionary want to take photos to put with the definition of the word, and that’s before you read the “TOO 5XY” number plate. Meanwhile, Moog managed to source a surprisingly clean Saab 9000 Turbo that was driven quite a distance to him by the former owner…no questions about drivability or reliability there! Since then, the guys have been in the shop hacking away, getting these two turbocharged wonders ready.
For those who have watched past episodes of MCM and have had a counter going of every time one of the duo utters the word, “Mad!” (which has to be an euphemism for something excellent, awesome or bitchin’), give this episode a shot. Not only is it the guys working on their cars, but if our eyes don’t deceive us, it looks like they are preparing for their upcoming date with the Roadkill team. By that, we mean that the Sawzalls and the shit-talking are flying random as the Saab and Mitsu are bodged together for what is probably going to end up being spectacular…and on a trailer by the time it’s all over.
