Who knew that certain places in Australia could get downright soggy with rain? Ok, silence, Aussies, you know three Yanks write this stuff. Truth is, from our point of view, you all live in a sunny paradise filled with all sorts of interesting and proficient methods of causing the human body anguish or death. We don’t look at Australia and see much in the way of muddy off-road romping short of a creek crossing. So seeing the boys from Mighty Car Mods in the middle of the kind of rain that would leave a Seattle native nodding their head in silent understanding with two cars built to enjoy some off-road abuse is a bit of a throw, but this is one worth watching.
The two cars couldn’t be any more different. In MCM parlance, it’s Mod Max versus the Outfap. Translated, it’s the LS-swapped Nissan Silvia S15 that they built a few years ago as a tie-in with the release of Mad Max: Fury Road versus a six-cylinder Subaru Liberty (Legacy) that has been lifted and kitted up in a way that here in the States would suggest that a college kid was about to go out and learn the fine art of overlanding. Neither car is legal to drive on the roads, both cars have major faults, and the scientific method on judging which one of these two is the better car is non-existent. This is hooning that requires a shower and a change of clothes afterwards, once you’re soaked to the bone and covered in the gritty film of super-wet mud. This is just having fun, and that’s the goal when you build a car like this.
Oddly, that Subaru looks like it’d be a killer daily driver, now that we’ve seen it in action.
