You know that stereotype of the proper Englishman, sipping Earl Grey tea, nibbling on a biscuit when they’re hungry, dressed in browns and tans and muted greens? Proper, professional, and a bit on the quirky side? Yeah…eff that noise. Apparently that couldn’t be further from the truth the closer you get to a race track. Yesterday we showed you people launching cars into other cars for the hell of it, and we were informed that there might be a roll hoop in the car…maybe. And that if we wanted to see some really questionable judgement in action, to check out coach demolition derby. Take a 50-ish seat bus, get rid of the sheet glass, and go bash the hell out of one another on a short track. This isn’t fast-paced action, instead it’s a visual representation of why the unspoken rule of survival, “yield to tonnage”, works in the automotive world. Though, a suggestion: to make things really interesting, stick something like an Austin Metro in the center of the pit and see what ends up looking like at the end of the carnage session!
