More Sand Drag Bike Action! Would You Take A Hayabusa Onto The Sand And Go Wide Open?

The Suzuki Hayabusa is above and beyond the “crotch rocket” slur. It is wickedly fast yet tame to ride. A competent rider could use it as daily transportation, yet it’s top speed was enough to panic Japanese and European motorcycle manufacturers into setting limits on themselves before a government stepped in. A Hayabusa’s natural environment is a long, empty desert road or a drag strip, where the only thing holding you back from finding the bike’s 200+ MPH top speed is the amount of courage you have in your soul…or a drag strip. And we should clarify right now: by drag strip, we mean 1,320 feet of paved asphalt with a run-off, not a sand pit with a Christmas tree. But here we find ourselves, at the track in Surry, Virginia. There it is, a magenta Hayabusa with a paddle tire on the rear, a rider who shows no fear whatsoever, and an opponent in the other lane. We find ourselves wondering before the launch: will the front tire reach for the sky or will the ‘Busa proceed to dig the perfect ditch for the next few hundred feet? It is one thing to see the extended-swingarm, custom built bikes we’ve shown before. This ‘Busa looks like it came to the event with the only real mod being a rear tire change. Click play below to see the Suzuki rider test his luck, along with many others!
