Mud Slingin’ Video: Bad Ass Mud Bog Action From 1987

Mud Slingin’ Video: Bad Ass Mud Bog Action From 1987

The mud boggin’ scene in the 1980s was pretty wild. Horsepower was becoming easier and easier to find, trucks were getting larger, faster, and more capable and the Budweiser bowtie logo was everywhere. In this video you’ll see our favorite type of truck from this era, the huge Super Pro beasts that wore tall and skinny Rice and Cane style tractor tires. Two of the meanest machines around fight it out in this video, which has a pretty good climax!

We dig these vehicles because they are rude and crude. Little more than trucks with braced up frames, near U shaped leaf springs and pissed off big block engines, they have a center of gravity roughly the same as a 10 story building. The trucks jump and heave and throw muck a country mile heading through this gumbo pit. It rules.

To make this 1980s video perfect, keep your eyes peeled for the shirtless, cutoff jeans wearing “safety” official who rushes to the scene of a serious incident a couple minutes into the clip.

Here’s mud in your eye!
