We have unabashed love for old medium- and heavy-duty trucks, so when we saw this ad for the 1953 Ford F-800, we had to share it. Using the construction of the New York Thruway as the backdrop, this video shows a shiny new dump truck loaded to the gunwales at work. These trucks featured a neat and little remembered Ford motor, adding to their cool factor.
The truck shown in the video would be powered by a 317ci “Cargo King” Y-Block V8. This is the same 317ci Y-Block that was used in Lincoln models and it was simply rebadged with a cooler name for the HD truck line. Since there’s no replacement for displacement, the Lincoln motor was used because at the time it was the largest displacement mill in the new OHV line up.
If you like old workin’ trucks, you’ll dig this video
