Best of 2018: Check Out The “Hot Rod Lincoln” Mark VII Sled Puller!

Tractors, trucks, and lawn tractors with blown V8s in them. That’s what is normal at your given truck pull, and to be fair, it’s kind of like a drag race: once you see a well-sorted Camaro or Mustang or Chevelle, you feel like you’ve seen them all. Nothing against that at all…I love seeing Cummins-powered Dodges going for broke with the sled attached as they try for a full pull. The 2WD classes are especially amusing as the trucks hike up onto the rear tire in a stable wheelstand while the rear axle does it’s best to not become the fuse of the whole situation.

Seeing any kind of truck attached to the sled is pretty typical, but when you see a 1988 Lincoln Mark VII backing up to the sled with 528ci of supercharged fun sticking through the hood, that’s when you perk up and pay attention. The driver is Lynn Lucken from Minnesota and that’s all I’m able to find of the guy. Well, there’s one other thing…at one point in the late 1980s he may have driven an exhibition car, a Mercury Cougar called “Hot Brandy”. But I’m not putting “hot brandy cougar” into my search engine for any of you guys, so if you know something about Lucken and his accomplishments, let us know!

The only way that could have been more unexpected on the pulling circuit would be if he’d been running the optional BMW straight six Diesel and boosted it to the moon.

Awesome video! I loved the Orange Blossom Special back in the day. That Lincoln is something else all together!

Lynn Lucken works at Lucken auto parts in winger Mn. One of this nicest guys you will ever meet. Still races on the dirt track every now and then. Look him up
