Well, there goes the Outback. The 1320Video gang have taken the long plane ride around the back of the planet to Australia and have been checking out the offerings that we here in the states tend to drool over. While there are no shortages of psychotic burnout-mobiles or wicked Japanese imports that run unreal amounts of boost, the first car that the crew shows us is…a refrigerator-white Holden Commodore ute, specifically a 1997 VS version. On the outside, the VS isn’t anything special…it’s just above a work truck in the hierarchy, a basic V8 pickup that anyone can own. But that basic pickup has had a turbocharged LS2 shoved where it certainly didn’t belong, and unless you look for the tiny little hints (see the intercooler and the brake rotors?) you’d never know what you were up against. It might even be sleepy enough to not alert the local authorities, provided you don’t try to repave a road somewhere. With about 570 horsepower on tap, the VS will rock worlds. We can’t wait to see what else they find on the trip if this Commodore ute is the starting point!
