Considering that the Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser has it’s roots in the original Toyota-Jeep BJ series vehicles from 1951, it’s not surprising in the least that the FJs have such a strong following. They are, like the early Jeep CJs, basic. You get two padded seats up front, maybe a couple more in the rear, and a heater. Consider the creature comforts done at that point. Everything is meant for maximum utility. There are no frivolities with these brutal Toyotas…they have everything you need and nothing you don’t, and if you need more, looking at a vehicle rooted in WWII/Korean War military vehicle themes probably isn’t your best bet.

Josh Commons is the owner of this blue and white FJ40, and while the Toyota has been restored, he will still use it like it was meant to be used. The trails leading to the town are pure off-road heaven, with dirt paths interrupted by shallow creeks and rocky scrambles. And the little Toyota has no problem with any of it.
