Rally Beating A Porsche 911? Oh, Yes, It Is As Awesome As It Looks!

Rally Beating A Porsche 911? Oh, Yes, It Is As Awesome As It Looks!

The Porsche 911 is many things to many people. It has rightfully earned every accolade that it has underneath it’s belt…it might share lineage with the VW Beetle and for the most part look like a Beetle Sport, but the 911 is truly a driver’s car. It has been, and Porsche has been very careful over the decades to not screw up what has been a successful formula. GT racing, road racing…the 911 seems to be happiest ripping along curvy asphalt, doesn’t it? Well, when it isn’t parading around popular cities with owners who hope that the rear-engined wonder car will make up for personal shortcomings, anyways. But rally racing…unless you are a devoted fan of Henri Toivonen, you might not immediately think of Porsche and rally racing. But 911s were ran on dirt, and did quite well. The likelihood of seeing a raised Porsche on mud tires anytime soon outside of a museum is slim to nil normally, but Matt Farah not only found one, he found one that was purpose built to be beat on like the General Lee Charger (ok, with less jumps.) I’ve heard of rally Porches before, but hadn’t seen that one. Kind of like a 911 version of a Baja Bug in some ways. Very cool.
