Lancia is currently hanging on to life by the thinnest of threads, and to be honest, they remind us a bit of Mitsubishi: at one point they made some of the most wicked machines out there, cars like this Lancia Delta Integrale. Running on the heels of the legendary Stratos and the absurdly violent 037 Rally, the Delta has both a bright and dark role in Lancia’s history: it was one of their most winning race cars ever, but it’s also the face of the car that killed Group B rally and one of World Rally’s brightest stars of the day. That’s the race car history, but there is always a bright side to be had when a manufacturer was participating in World Rally: homologation specials. That’s always a favorite word of ours, because it meant that the factory had to sell a version of what was being raced to the public. Sure, they were sold in small numbers, but they are the real deal and for the United States, they are only just now becoming legal for import, which is perfect for people who grew up playing Grand Turismo, Dirt and other games that showcased these cars to gearheads who fell for them. Not many Americans have spent time behind the wheel of any Lancia, but Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire got the shot to drive one of these rally legends – click play below and check it out!
