Wanna Buy 644 Vintage Carbs For $19,999? Now You Can! All Rebuilt

Wanna Buy 644 Vintage Carbs For $19,999? Now You Can! All Rebuilt

This is one of the more interesting eBay ads we have ever seen. Pallets and pallets of vintage carbs, 644 of them in total all for sale in one lot for the low, low price of $19,999 bucks! The carbs are one, two, and four barrel pieces that range from the 1960s right through the 1980s. Apparently all of them have been rebuilt at some point in time and from the photos that show the removed carbs, other than some light surface rust these things look brand new.

The question then arises. Who buys this? Obviously someone in the business of restoration parts supply of someone with a really big hankering to own 644 carbs. We don’t want to meet the second guy.

The money on this is actually pretty smart. When you break it down on a per piece basis you are looking at about $31.00 per carb. To us that says every one of the 644 pieces will make some money. Even a 1bbl carb can be sold for more than $31.00. Maybe not much more than $31 but still you can make some dough on it for restorations or whatever.

Something tells us that there are no ultra rare Hemi carbs, or trip-power units in here but if you are in business, it seems like it could be a profit making venture.

Agree?

PLUS two grand $ shipping from Michigan… Big Dreamers here. Thank you for the post. Very interesting to see delusion in action.

    Two words: Fuel Injection.

I bought a large lot of NOS Carter, Motorcraft and Rochester carbs from a shop going out of business a few years ago, thinking I would make good money on them. The time it took to photograph them, list them and ship them probably wasn’t worth it. Anything good sold pretty quick, which gave me hope..but two years later I’ve still got a LOT of NOS one and two barrel carbs.

I can almost guarantee That’s what this is, the leftovers from somebody’s buyout. You will almost NEVER sell any one barrel or two barrel from the 70’s to late 80’s. surprisingly most 4bbls sell and obviously early 2bbl stuf like strombergs and stuff, but without a list of part numbers that’s an awfully lofty price to gamble.

Yup, that’s exactly how it went. And luckily for me 90% of mine were in their original boxes with paperwork telling me exactly what they fit. Still, I have a ton of obscure carbs that nobody wants. I’ve given up on selling them for now, they just sit in a corner of the basement and occasionally if I see someone is in need I’ll go through the spreadsheet I created and see if I can match one up. The thought of turning them into something like lights has crossed my mind, I just hate to ruin brand new carbs from 50-60 years ago (most of mine are from the late 50’s-late 60’s). I wouldn’t touch a lot like the one above. You’re absolutely right about the list of part numbers, it would be a nightmare trying to figure out what all of them came from.
