Quain Stott is one of the greatest door slammer drag racers of all time. He was there on the ground floor of Pro Mod and through the years has been a world champion with the IHRA in 2006, a force to be reckoned with in ADRL and NHRA competition, and a dude who is an old school “one man band” at the track. He can drive, tune, and wrestle a Pro Mod car like few others in history ever have. He is definitely a living legend in that world and as proof, he was voted as a member of the Car Craft All Star Drag Racing Team the same year as his IHRA triumph in 2006. Famously outspoken, the guy isn’t really happy with how the world of Pro Mod has evolved over the years, but he’s kept at it and done so successfully.
As a break from the high stress world of making his living as a professional drag racer, Stott built this very period correct 1941 Willys gasser as a tribute to the old days and specifically as a way to race the kinds of cars his dad raced back in the day. This Hilborn injected, small block Chevy powered, stick shift gasser is violent and about as stable as Gary Busey as compared to cars with modern chassis under them. You’ll see him driving this thing and it is a handful!
You can skip ahead to about 1:50 to just watch the run, but if you do that, you are going to miss the dry hop and all of the other good stuff that happens in car, pre-run. That just is normally boring, but this is like watching Schumacher drive an old 1940s F1 car and owning it. Stott is an awesome driver and this proves it once and for all. There isn’t an electronic aid in this car. No two step, no rev limiter, not a damned thing. He throws the revs on the launch and just hammers this thing down the strip. OOGA BOOGA!
Press play to watch the coolest in-car drag video we’ve seen in a LONG time!

A: Im pretty sure these videos have been posten on BS before.
B: I’m not complaining one bit.
C: I cant spell
That’s alright. I can’t read!
why does he have a fire mask, the car is not on fuel
I loved the second video. Takes off with a wheelie, gets into 2nd gear and lifts the front up some more, pushes her up into 3rd gear and shes still up there. 4th gear was just 4th gear.
Gassers rule.
Was exposed to them as a wee lad(well ok, early teenager) when a new neighbor moved in 2 houses down. He ran an Anglia in, I believe, C/Gas. Forever after, I “knew” this was what a hot rod was supposed to look like. 45 years later I ain’t changed.
Yes I’ve seen this on here before – but I never get tied of watching it.
As it is I have just watched both clips a couple of times – should be some shots from outside the car. COOL IMO
Awesome video, but What kind of a drag strip is that with trees lining the edge?
I’m guessing Greer Dragway.
