Roadkill: The Guys Unearth The Infamous 1973 Fury And Attack The 24 Hours Of Lemons – Things Could Have Gone Better

The newest Roadkill adventure featuring David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan has gone live and you can watch it below. Before you press play, you may be interested to know the BangShifty connection that we have to the massive 1973 Plymouth Fury featured in this video. As many of you know, BangShift was born out of the closure of David and Chad’s first internet adventure called “CarJunkieTV”. That company folded up in late 2007 but not before the guys bought the Fury, prepped it, and raced it at a 24 Hours of Lemons race in their native California. That 24 Hours of Lemons race was one of the last major videos that CJTV kicked out before it kicked off. When that venture ceased to exist, David, Chad, and I hitched our wagons together and started a website called Freiburger’sJunkyard.com which published its first blog item on November 21,2008. When David went back to Hot Rod Magazine shortly thereafter we needed to rename the site and it became BangShift.com. At the time we were forming up BangShift and before David went back to the magazine, we had kicked some ideas around regarding the Fury, but with no money they went nowhere. It is cool to see the car go out with its boots on in this video.

The interesting thing about this Roadkill is that it was actually made about a year ago. The guys shelved the video because, well, things didn’t exactly go as planned. Not that they normally do with Roadkill but this one kind of pegs the meter on stuff going sideways. SPOILER ALERT: They don’t win the race, but they do make it to the race and hammer on the car, so that’s a win in our book although it does appear that at points in this video Finnegan wants to attack Freiburger with a claw hammer. Beer seems to abate those murderous tendencies so no one dies…except the Fury. It dies. You have to see how.

PRESS PLAY BELOW TO SEE DAVID AND MIKE POUND THE FURY INTO A FINE DUST AT THE 24 HOURS OF LEMONS!

How is it that these guys can’t fix an overheating problem they knew was present before they left for the race? They head out to the track anyway because they need to fill up time on video. I doubt the rest of us would have done that.

That Fury looks like one that I sent to the scrap yard back in 1999. It over heated and the transmission wasn’t any good on it either. Y’all reckon these boys bought it?
