Roadkill! There’s Victories And Losses In This Tale Of A Trip To The Car Craft Summer Nationals!

Roadkill! There’s Victories And Losses In This Tale Of A Trip To The Car Craft Summer Nationals!

It has been a busy year for the dynamic duo that make up Roadkill. They have toured the country via Drag Week, Drag Weekend, and their Roadkill Takes America tour. They have endured a lifetime’s worth of Internet hatred just on that showboat stunt involving the Gas Monkey crew, on top of the hatred flung at them by people who think that Dodge has bought them out. If we were in their shoes, we would take a year off and just put up ten-second clips of whatever we were working on that day just to make sure that the fans knew we were still alive. But Freiburger and Finnegan are better than that.

That being said, this episode is a bit of a return to roots for them. Where do you start? Well, with Finnegan surprising Freiburger with a 1950 Ford F-6 that is in need of work…and oh, by the way, let’s road trip the sucker to the Car Craft Summer Nationals in Wisconsin. From Finnegan’s home somewhere around the Atlanta area. Doesn’t sound like much of a reach, does it? Should be a piece of cake, right? Two words for you: Split Rims. Yep, all six of the Ford’s tires need to be changed, and it’s sitting on two-piece widow makers all the way around. And that’s just the start of the fun. The Blasphemi ’55 Chevy and the 1969 Chevy El Camino that Mike borrows from his wife make their appearances as well. And so does Freiburger, in a paper bag with a face. UPCG has seen the episode, guys. He approves.

Everyone makes a big deal about the split rims. But as someone who has torn down and mounted 100’s, maybe 1000’s of them, they are not dangerous if you pay attention when you are putting them together. Its only if they are put together wrong will they fail. At least, I have never seen one come apart after it was put together right.

Another great episode! I also hope they continue with the F6, maybe poke and stroke the Flathead.

      Yeah!
A flatty like this would be awesome to build up!
I was hoping Freiburger would pull off one of his “one man speed parts warehouse” maneuvers and bust out Ardun heads for the flathead. It would make a long road trip a lot less stressful.

I’d never watched a full episode of Roadkill.

‘Guess this was a good one as a 1st.

Freiberger and Finnegan show what really happens to some of us shadetree enthusiasts.

Hell, some of our projects won’t even make it around the block!

    Nice digs, Finnegan!

I can so relate to screwing with everything on an old truck EXCEPT what makes it go down the road safely. Mine’s a Studebaker Trailer Toter. It, too, needs brakes, tune up, cooling system work (they’ll come to that Jesus point, too, sooner or later), elctrical work, and who knows what else. There, in the driveway it sits, rusting away.
