Screaming Detroit Video: The Valley Truck Parts Green Ghost Treats The Sled Like Like a Toy!

Be still my beating heart! This video features one of the coolest trucks I have ever seen, The Valley Truck Parts Green Ghost which appears to be a Hendrickson. The “big n’ little” tires are normally found on fertilizer spreaders used in the expansive fields of today’s farms. If they look like what you’d see on a monster truck that’s because they’re about the same thing. Power comes from a glorious 12-cylinder Detroit Diesel. We’re not 100% sure if it is a 12V71 or a 12V92, but we do know that it sports twin turbos and is probably making far more than 1,000hp and torque numbers like a locomotive or tug boat. The way they have the weight sled tied to the truck, wheelstands are the order of the day when the box slides up and those big rear tires start to chew into the Earth.

At the end of the pull, when it seems like traction has abated to the point that the Green Ghost will come to a stop, it digs right in and vaults ahead without even working all that hard. It is an interesting thing to watch the truck work with the front end up because when the nose gets too high and the truck slows, the driver lifts a little, bringing the nose down, planting the tires again, and off it goes. Detroit Diesel music is our favorite kind and to see it packaged up in this sublimely cool truck….frankly, there’s nothing better!
