Screaming Video: Watch A 2008 Mustang With A 358CI NASCAR Engine Make A Dyno Pull – Bad Ass Road Racer!

The Mustang Shop in Washington state is in the final stages of completing a 2008 Mustang the likes of which we have never seen for the NASA American Iron Extreme class. What was their build plan? Essentially it was to take a Mustag road race car and shove a 358ci NASCAR Sprint Cup engine into it. This just isn’t a good idea, it is the BEST idea. You’ll totally agree when you watch the video below and the car makes a dyno pull to 8,400 RPM sounding amazing in the process. The guys are working on tuning the engine which they still think is a little soft for their tastes. We’re not sure what else will be running in the same class as the Mustang, but we know it won’t sound as good! The class rules are obviously pretty loose as the guys have set the engine back to improve front to rear weight bias and have probably worked in a number of other tricks as well.

Here’s what they had to say about the tuning session: The Mustang Shop’s 358ci NASCAR Cup engine powered 2008 Mustang on the dyno. This is a 3rd gear tuning pull but still need to lean out the jetting a little more. I ran the car to 8400 RPMs and it made a corrected 653whp . The timing is set at 32 degrees and will try a little more advance to see how it responds. This trans typically has a 20% loss in 4th and 22% loss in 3rd gear. Once the tuning is finished and the pulls are done in 4th gear, I expect to see over 675 hp at the tires. This works out to roughly 840 hp at the crank.
