Day 8 at King of the Hammers—and the energy is definitely building!

The day starts early with a NITTO Tire photoshoot, getting the race car camera-ready before the lakebed fully wakes up. From there, Shannon jumps right into helping people out around camp with some mechanical fixes—including making a brake line for our good friends ‪@LiteBrite‬ That’s one of our favorite parts of KOH… everyone helping everyone.

Shannon then heads into Hammertown for a couple quick podcast stops, starting with Letz Roll, before bouncing to another interview with The Dirt Drive Podcast to keep the day moving. Back at camp, Ian from ‪@BigTireGarage‬ swings by with some incredible Tennessee whiskey, and we have a steady stream of awesome people stopping by the Mobile Coop to say hi and check things out. One lucky young fan even gets to hop in the race car and fire it up—moments like that are why we love doing this.

After dinner, we all head over to the annual Ultra3 race, where the fun absolutely continues. The party rolls back to The Coop afterward, and eventually we call it a night to rest up—Qualifying is here.

Day 7 at King of the Hammers—another full day on the lakebed with a little bit of everything.

We start the day with Shannon doing a quick interview for AMSOIL, then Shannon & Jess take a walk through Hammertown, giving you a look at the general store setup, stopping by the WARN booth, and checking out the main stage area as the event continues to grow.

We finally get the Scrambler set up at the ARB booth, and Shannon sneaks in a little seat time on a portion of the qualifying course to get a feel for things as race week approaches.

Later in the day, we head up to The Forty for a WARN-sponsored event and dinner, then ‪@TStoneApproved‬ convinces us to head over to Chocolate Thunder. It was mostly uneventful… except for the one guy we helped get unstuck —because it wouldn’t be KOH without lending a hand.

The night wraps up with the boys doing a quick tire swap to get Shannon’s car ready for his NITTO tire photoshoot first thing in the morning. Another solid lakebed day in the books.

Day 6 at King of the Hammers—and honestly, a slower day is very welcome around here.

Shannon & Jess take some time to walk around Hammertown, grab an ice cream, and catch up with friends—including a visit with AMSOIL. We also finally get the chance to check out the WARN VIP tent, and wow… what an awesome setup. Huge thanks to Tom Beebe for the hookup—we’ll definitely be utilizing that space more as race week ramps up.

As the day winds down, we do what lakebed pros do—we call it an early night. Netflix on, lights out before 10pm. These calm nights on the lakebed are appreciated because we all know things are about to get wild as race week approaches.

We also answer a subscriber request, with Shannon doing a walkaround of the inside of the race car, showing what’s on the dash and how everything is laid out.

Day 5 at King of the Hammers is packed from start to finish!

The day kicks off like normal on the lakebed—with breakfast and getting Ricky lined up for his Limited Desert Race in his vintage car. From there, it’s a whirlwind of racing, wrenching, travel, and some unexpected curveballs that required quick thinking and teamwork.

We’re able to include GoPro footage from Ricky’s race, then Shannon & Jess head to FTA in Hesperia to get the race car dialed in with timing adjustments, a fan plug change, and a new throttle body ordered. After grabbing the Scrambler and heading back to Hammertown, plans quickly change when we learn Ricky has broken out on course—and recovery wasn’t happening like we were told.

That turns into a full-on recovery mission before the Unlimited Desert Race kicks off Sunday morning. Along the way, we still manage to soak up some lakebed moments—cute fans stopping by, friends hanging out at the Mobile Coop, and a very special early Valentine’s gift from Shannon to Jess that might just be our favorite moment yet. ❤️

Day 4 at King of the Hammers and it’s another full lakebed day!

We’re back out pre-running, but this time we were able to capture some GoPro footage so you can really see the trails and terrain we’re working through out there. It’s always cool to get that driver’s-eye view of what makes KOH so legendary.

After a long Thursday night Jess & Anna make a much-needed stop at the IV Hydration trailer for a little rehab (lakebed life is no joke ). Dinner is Machaca Burros, then it’s an early night for us—Saturday is a big one.

The race car is headed to FTA Saturday morning for some tune tweaks, and Ricky will be lining up to race the Desert Race, so rest is the priority as race week continues to ramp up fast.

Day 3 at King of the Hammers—and things are ramping up fast!

This day starts with some fabrication as we build a “man-size” battery mount for Ricky with help from the Fab School crew. No more lawn-mower battery around here —it was time for a proper upgrade.

From there, we get into a LOT of prerunning and We did try to make this portion a live stream, but unfortunately our connection dropped and the live feed didn’t work—so you’ll be seeing those files upload on their own due to size!

The rest of the day is classic lakebed life: more time under the tent, fire pit hangs, and enjoying friends while we still can… because once race week hits, it’s all business.

We kick off the day on the lakebed with some important shock tuning, dialing things in and making sure everything feels right as race week continues to ramp up. Once the work is done, it’s time to slow things down and enjoy what King of the Hammers is really about—good food, great friends, and lakebed nights done right.

Jess takes care of taco night (because priorities ), friends swing by The Coop, and we hang out around the fire pit soaking in another unforgettable evening in Hammertown. This is life on the lakebed—work hard, eat well, and enjoy the people around you.

This video kicks off our daily King of the Hammers series as we wrap up the final last-minute shop prep before heading out to Hammertown. Once we hit the road, it’s all about getting settled on the lakebed—setting up camp, unloading the trailer, and turning our setup into the Mobile Coop that we’ll be calling home for the next two weeks.

Living on the lakebed means comfort matters, and we’re getting everything dialed in so we can focus on race week, friends, and the incredible KOH atmosphere.
