The Oval Nationals held at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, California has become a must win event for West Coast dirt racers since its humble beginnings nearly 20 years ago. The guys who race these cars are a couple bricks shy of a load as they spend most of time sideways, on two wheels, and generally defying the known laws of physics. All of that is highlighted and even elevated by this impressive video from the people at Loudpedal media who made this video.
Depending on your musical tastes, you may not dig the score behind the film (we did), but the camera work, editing, and effects inserted into this film are really spectacular. There is a scene about 2:20 into the video where a wreck happens and the way it is filmed, the cars literally look like toys flying through the air.
These wingless Sprint cars are not that far removed from the cars that guys like AJ Foyt and others races decades ago. The technology has advanced, the horsepower has increased, but the fact that brave men race them on dirt within inches of one another has not chancged one iota.
This is one of the coolest dirt racing videos we’ve ever run across. Press play below!
