Lots of people asked me, when I was riding dirt bikes, if I freaked out at some of the stuff I rode on. The arena cross stuff, not so much. But some of the trail rides around Washington State presented many an opportunity for me to sit at the bottom of the obstacle on my bike, while looking up the incline at the trail, and wonder what I was actually doing with my life. A good bike can handle a lot of terrain…it’s up to the rider to maximize the bike’s capabilities, and doubt is not your friend when you find yourself wondering if you’d be better off doing any other hobby instead. Unless you’re really into riding, you don’t want to find out if crashing your bike is gonna hurt or not. With videos like the ones that YouTuber “Enduro KeX” shoots, with a GoPro strapped to his helmet, you get the first person view of what it’s like to bomb around some excellent trails and most of what happens when things go wrong. Luckily, it’s KeX’s body taking the punishment, not you.
