The Challenger Revival, Part 15: Window Trim And Glass Installation

Pandemic or not, projects are still in need of work and work they shall get. It’s the best way to spend the time stuck at home, isn’t it? You were told that you didn’t need to go anywhere else, so why not use the time to quit kicking the can regarding the project car you said you’d work on? Dylan McCool certainly hasn’t…lockdown or not, his Dodge Challenger has parts waiting for it and there’s nothing stopping him from spinning a wrench, so it’s time to get down and dirty once again with a car that has spent more time dormant than it ever did alive and intact.

Next on the agenda are a couple of things that might seem basic on the surface, but make an impact in real life: trim and seals for the glass and the installation of the rear window. If you’ve owned a beater that sounds like you’re driving through a hurricane just rolling down the road, you understand just how irritating wind noise can be, so good door seals for the frameless glass to set into are a godsend and will help with the interior-redo…the quietness will be very welcomed. Then there’s the rear glass, a tasking that many would simply call a shop for. Chrysler products used butyl tape as a layer between the metal and the glass, and it works, but McCool has a tweak to help make sure that there will be no leaks or worse, whistling noises when the E-body finally hits the road!
