The Parting Shift: A Screaming 289 Cobra Destroys Everything In Its Path On The Road Course

The Parting Shift: A Screaming 289 Cobra Destroys Everything In Its Path On The Road Course

This video is some killer stuff. In fact, this video is 14-minutes of lumber generating, ooga booga, screaming V8, road racing dominance. The driver of this 289ci Cobra competition coupe is Bill Shepherd and this video was shot in 2010 at the Nurburgring during a historic race run on the Grand Prix circuit at the ‘Ring. This is not the “Green Hell” super long course, but a more formalized race track. To boil it down, Shepard qualifies on the pole for the race after completely annihilating everything else on the race track. The little Cobra eats up Porsches like VW bugs and only has to sweat when working around another Cobra!

Outside of the sound, Shepard is a pretty bad ass driver and you’ll see him really work the wheel in the little Cobra. He’s steering, counter steering, and man handling the car around the race track like it is his job. Oh yeah, he’s also working the shifter up and down the gears like nobody’s business, too! In this setting, it is really clear to see why the Shelby Cobra was such a feared machine among the European road racing teams of the 1960s. Yes, they were completely brutal even with the small 289 engines in them but in the hands of the right guy, a Cobra was virtually untouchable in that time.

We’ve got nothing more to say other than this is 14-minutes of pure BangShift approved greatness. Bill Shepherd is out new hero!

Them Shelby Cobras were badass cars with the 289 in them. Put the 427 in them and they were hell on wheels.
I went up against a 427 version on grudge night at the local strip last month. I came in second.

I think he left alittle on the table tho. Now If that was me I’d show em, I’d tear that up & smash the recorded. And Now that I woke up & found all I left was my balls on the floorboard, I’ll go quietly back to sleep & stick to my Drag Racing. It was a SWEET RIDE THO
