I’ve seen, and done, a lot of different welding including some pretty heaving industrial and construction stuff. But this is a whole different deal and it’s bad ass. These two guys have a whole process, which doesn’t take very long, for welding two pieces of railroad track together. It’s hot, fiery, and uses some pretty cool tools. Sign us up!
Check it out.
Hmm, I’ve wondered how they did that but never looked into it. Kind-of a combination of welding and casting, all done on site w/ the right tools and materials. Neat! Fire good!
I’ve seen them do it in the USA with a different machine that is less labor intensive.
They forgot to show a close-up of the finished product.
Too Bad. I’m exhausted just watching these two guys hump it.
Must be an easier way.
Look on the rail behind them the silver colored spot a little further on is the same thing done on that rail.
Weird. I’ve watched subway tracks being replaced, and it was LOT easier than this. All automated, crawler lifted up the pieces and sort-of robotic welder zipped right around them, then lowered back to the rail bed.
