This Scrappy Little Kia Sportage Proves You Don’t Need A Ton Of Money To Go Rockcrawling

A Kia Sportage on the front page of BangShift.com…yes, there’s a good reason for it, I promise. Think about it: these things are dirt-cheap, have a sewing machine for a motor, and have four-wheel drive. Throw a few bucks towards some suspension pieces, make sure the engine isn’t in self-destruct mode, and you wind up with a small four wheel drive that you won’t mind getting a little trail rash with. With tube-frame crawlers costing money normally seen in the black market organ trade and a stout Jeep costing just a little less than that, it suddenly becomes clear why throwing a couple hundred at a Kia you spent a couple hundred on in the first place starts to look like a good idea. Just think of it as a Polaris RZR that you can tag and title in all 50 states. This guy had the right idea: according to the camera guy, he freshened up the engine, threw some suspension parts at it, and proceeded out to the trail to have some fun. Cheap, easy, and if things get wrecked…meh, it’s a Kia Sportage. You can rip the Sportage all you want, but he’s having fun while someone is sitting at home just dreaming about their perfect Jeep build.
