Man, do I love car chases. Unfortunately, due to these crazy things we have called “laws” and “prisons with large inmates”, odds are it’s not in my best interest to re-enact some of my favorite car chases in real life. Besides, I really don’t have the budget for a good car chase, which typically involves a number of expensive cars and half of the state’s police force, along with a few fruit stands, city buses, and sassy pedestrians to add some color. The best that I could probably muster is an off-white late 80’s Monte Carlo being PIT maneuvered by a few Crown Vics on Route 95, which, while sure to be amusing to some, isn’t the big Hollywood car chase that I’d be hoping to make, so there goes that dream.
Well, as Brenden Kent and Paul Greer Of Vanguard Pictures prove in the video below, not every great car chase scene needs a million dollar budget; sometimes you just need a good-sized room, a collection of toy cars, and a lot of patience. Oh, and a phone (Seriously!) to film the whole thing with.
Yes, it’s a stop motion video of a bunch of toy cars, but trust me, it’s more entertaining (And arguably more realistic) than the last Fast and Furious movie, if only because it features 100% more vehicles and 100% less of The Rock punching people and objects while in mid-air.

That was neat. Thanks for the post.
tooo koool……this can only get better…the possibilitys are endless..gotta stick some g.i. joes, toy soldiers or painted faces that change(closeups) in the windows…nite scenes, trucks, bikes…gonna have ta git me a camera & try a drag race’n one…these would be hot played even made at carshows or any gearhead event….
I’m not sure if I’m more impressed with the camera shot selection, or the foley work in post.
A thousand plus ones for the reference to the movie “Jason and the Argonauts” at the one minute mark. A film famous for its stop motion animation and not a bad movie either. I think this neat video might be a tribute to the producer of such stop motion animations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Harryhausen
Not to mention all the other references. Thanks for that sequel, Mr. Blue.
Great, love it.
