Driving slow cars fast is a topic we have broached here on BangShift a bunch. My own experience in that arena taught me a ton and serves as the basis for my love of this video you’ll see below. The stars of the show are a kid and a stripped out little diesel powered Citroen hatch back. To say that this guy drives the absolute snot out of the car for 9:55 straight would not be exaggerating one bit. He lays a beat down on the little car the likes of which another Citroen of the same type has probably never seen before. The guy barely ever uses the brakes. The car understeers worse than some dump trucks I have driven, and it accelerates like it has a glacier strapped to its ass. NONE of that matters. What matters is the fact that this kid committed to attacking the most famous and challenging race course in the world as hard as he could in the car that he had. It takes balls to do that and his driving style certainly indicates that this kid showed up prepared. Yes, we would recommend the guy wear a helmet.
The truly glory of the video is actually shown at the end in a set of still photos that have been edited into the film. You see the car on various corners, black smoke trailing out the back as the little 52hp diesel works harder than it ever has to move the car alarm you then see a shot of a sleeping bag inside the stripped interior of the machine. Yup, our hero slept in the car on the way from wherever his adventure started. What’s even cooler is the next photo which shows a SPARE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION strapped into where the passenger seat would normally reside. This is 100% BangShift approved. He drove it there prepared for the worst, by himself from who knows where and then lived a dream by hammering the car to a lap of the ‘Ring in under 10-minutes. This guy flat out rules.
You don’t really get a perspective on how “fast” the car is until a few minutes in when a Subaru comes by him like it is a Formula One car. Through the course of his lap, the driver is passed and passes other cars. One guy in a newer Nissan Z blows by him at the seven minute mark. Remember him, because around nine minutes you’ll see him again….as our hero passes the car sitting in the sand trap!
Major kudos to the unknown guy in the Citroen. This BangShift spirit lives deep inside that guy and we should all be so lucky as to have an adventure like his, which he’ll now be able to brag on for a lifetime. He earned it!
PRESS PLAY TO SEE SOME REALLY GREAT VIDEO OF A GUY LIVING HIS DREAM IN TRUE BANGSHIFTY STYLE!
And I’d be willing to bet he was having a lot more fun than some of the guys in the newer and much more expensive cars on the track around him.
This is by far one of the coolest videos you have posted. I really appreciate you bringing it to light. This young man deserves our admiration. BANGSHIFT APPROVED!
That was awesome it’s what our sport is really about!
Not some friggin yuppie rubbing his scrap metal with a diaper to make it shine and bragging how much money he spent at pep boys buying pine tree fresheners to customize his ride…
He actually passed a minivan!
Had to laugh at the Nissan Z in the sand pit after he passed the Citroen.
Why does this guy have his face blurred? I’d be telling everybody with the biggest @#$%-eating grin on my face ever. Well done sir, well done!
Maybe he’s really a famous racing driver?
All my commuter cars have been underpowered econoboxes. While the engines remained stock I have installed better shocks, swaybars, tires, etc. To drive them smoothly and fast is a sheer joy. To stay with or pass a faster car is a rush.
Driving a slow car fast is always always more fun than driving a fast car slowly. Same with motorcycles.
