We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. Some of our favorite videos are the ones where good camera angles are used, some nice cuts are made, and nothing else is done to screw with genuinely good footage. This video is a perfect example of less is more. The killer sounds of the ragged edge 427 sbc powering this Pontiac Firebird are not downed out in music.
This footage was taken during a single event on the quick eighth mile strip in Eddyville, Iowa. It shows the driver cutting his way all the way to the final round through a 32-car field during a Night of Fire show at the facility. We’re just loving the car, the Lenco, the sounds of the sbc, and the fact that this dude can drive the wheels off of it.
This is great drag racing video at its simplest. Let the car do the talking and put on the show!

I love my GoPro cam, but damn the sound on them sucks. That button rattle, and wind noise is awful.
Do you have to build custom GM parts for Firebird racecars? I’d like to buy a used one and start working on it, but I don’t know if I’d have access to the kind of parts they do.
