Video: A Tattered Sleeper Chevy Truck Runs DEEP 10s In Texas And Makes Us Weep With Joy

Video: A Tattered Sleeper Chevy Truck Runs DEEP 10s In Texas And Makes Us Weep With Joy

There are videos of the red Chevy farm truck with the cap on the bed pulling wheelies and roaring down the track, blowing flashier and newer cars into the weeds and those are nice, but this thing is cooler in our book. The little truck isn’t over the top with the shabbiness, there’s an old rag sticking out of what has to be a gas filler neck to nowhere and the thing goes deep into the 10s. Interestingly it has no roll bar that we can see and the driver even makes a lap or tow with his damned elbow on the widow sill!

Traction is an issue for the truck, at least right off the starting line. The driver has to pedal it on virtually every run but the thing pulls like a pissed off freight train when it gets its sea legs under it about 100′ down the course. Power comes from a twin turbo LS engine and the shifting is handled by a Turbo 400 transmission. The rear suspension is a four link that was done by the shop that built the truck, DB Rods. Apparently it was chugging E85 during this truck drag day at San Antonion Raceway in Texas.

The wheels, the stance, and the fact that this truck has plates and could wipe the floor with a ZR1 makes us happy. We dig it more than the big red farm truck. What about you?

The red rag in the fake gas inlet is a hilarious touch! It’s giving me ideas for what to do with my beater ’72 Chevy truck…

He definitely spent the money where it counts! I’d like to see it run heads up against the red farm truck.

I just noticed there is a related video of the red farm truck at the same track. I’m wondering if the owner of this truck isn’t one in the same?

I like this truck, but I don’t know any farmers who ever lowerd their trucks, get it up a couple inches. I like the wheels, but I think they would be cooler if the offset was the other way.
