Video: A Werido And BangShift Approved Toyota One Ton Truck – Trust Us….You’ve Never Seen A Dually Like This!

Video: A Werido And BangShift Approved Toyota One Ton Truck – Trust Us….You’ve Never Seen A Dually Like This!

So we got tipped off to this video by BangShifter Ron Ward. We didn’t even ask how he found it, so leave that up to your own twisted imagination. Depending on where you are reading this from, the little Toyota one-ton dually may be a more common sight than it is here in New England where this is being written. These trucks suffered the fate of many of its comrades in arms, meaning that they rusted to pieces and were scrapped in large quantities years ago. Out in the western states and more dry climates, they’re probably still chugging away doing yeoman duty for small businesses and landscaping outfits.

There’s one major, critical difference between this truck and every single other of the Toyota dually trucks that you will ever see. What is it? This one is powered by a freaking motorcycle engine mounted just behind the cab. No bull-pucky…it is there and you’ll both see and hear it in the video below. How does it get the power to the rear end? Dunno. Why did someone do this? Dunno. Can it tow as much as stock? Hell freaking no. Do we want to drive it to experience the all out werido freak factor? You bet your britches we do.

Are we leading sheltered lives? Is this a common thing for people to do? Is it wrong to like it? So many tough questions and so much time to ponder all of them. I think if Chad and I were building this thing, there would be a nitrous snorting big block in the front…but it wouldn’t handle as good as this one. That’s a concern, right? Probably not.

PRESS PLAY BELOW TO SEE THE WEIRDEST TOYOTA DUALLY IN THE WORLD (BUT IT IS KINDA NEAT….OR IS IT?)

I remember those chassis, they were factory cab & chassis and used on some small “mini-class C” motorhomes, One of my customers had one back in the 90’s.
She drove it to Alaska and back it had a V6 auto in it. With all that weight, It had no power and the fuel mileage wasnt all that great. Probably why we don’t see them anymore. Oh, & btw, those rear dually rims were one piece, mounting/dismounting from one side & then flipping it over, haha.

When I worked at Autozone on the Pomona/Chino city line these trucks were HUGELY popular among the landscaping community. I couldn’t imagine hauling 2,000lbs worth of cargo with a 22R yoter engine let alone a motorcycle engine, but it was common to see them loaded up good.

It has WAY more punch than I expected! What was the engine, exactly? Yeah, it’s cool, in a perverse sorta way. Everybody hot rods what they got! And it’s just a Toyoder! At least they didn’t trash something cool!

Not what I expected? In stock form those things are pigs. Went one a trip in one, think we got 9mpg? AND it didn’t climb hills fer shit!

Sometimes you need to just BACK OFF yourself a little. I can honestly say that after working 16-hour days for almost three weeks straight, I am seriously overdue for a little rest, relaxation and hours spent in sweatpants with nowhere to go. Can I get an “amen” from the choir?
