Both Chad and I are friendly with Jimi Day the owner of the car featured in this video, an AMX he has dubbed AMX-cess. The car is really neat with a full boogie Ridetech Suspension, a large but tasteful wheel and tire combo, Chevy LS power, and an exhaust note that won’t quit. Jimi has driven this car in anger at events like the Car Craft Real Street Eliminator, various autocross events around the country, and other venues like the Silver State Classic. To us, that’s what makes this car so neat, the fact that no only is a cool because of the look and the parts used to assemble it, but also because it has been used and abused hard and will continue to be because Day likes dropping the hammer on the race track as much as he does on the street.
In this episode of the Mike Musto hosted Big Muscle show that appears on the YouTube Drive channel, Musto puts the car through its paces on some secluded canyon roads in California. We want to find the location of those roads and attack them with our own junk someday! Musto does a nice job of giving a tour of the car and relaying the driving experience to viewers. Day also makes a couple of cameo appearances talking about the thought process behind the car’s built and history.
