Long about a year ago, we ran an item on the blog about George Stinnett’s legendary Psycho pulling truck. The old Ford Econoline truck became famous for dragging the sled with the front end five feet (or more) in the air. After running around the country for many years delighting crowds the truck vanished into thin air.
As one would expect from a vehicle that had such a rabid following, a few intrepid individuals have been searching for the truck. As we reported last year, they were running into dead end after dead end. All of that changed recently with the emergence of a video tape, taken about 10 years ago. It showed the complete truck sitting on the side of the road, apparently for sale.
Well, the story has come to a sad end. The current train of thought is that the truck was either parted out or just plain destroyed not too long after this video was taken. We hope this news spurs someone on to build a clone of the jaw dropping truck. This thing was bad to the bone back in the day and it would put on just as good a show today as it did back then!
The video is weird. It features a walk around of the truck with no audio, a couple little hangups in the film, and very Blair Witch vibe. This truck was in really decent shape back then. It is a damn shame that the original no longer exists, but it is cool that a definitive close to the story was located.
